Hurricane Georges - Key West, Florida - September 25, 1998

Only four days after going through Hurricane Georges in Puerto Rico, I was able to intercept the storm a second time in the lower Florida Keys. From September 22-24, Georges made landfall in the Dominican Republic, crossed into Haiti, emerged over the Windward passage and then made landfall in Eastern Cuba. The hurricane moved west-northwest skirting the northern coast of Cuba for a day, before emerging into the Florida Straits on the 24th. Georges began strengthening
